Driving Licence in Turkey

Do you exchange your driving licence while living in Turkey? I have heard so many different stories in this subject, and finally I have decided to exchange mine, after my friend had an accident and insurance company did not accept her non-Turkish driving licence.
Eventually, after having waited good few months, I got written information that my driving document can be exchanged, so I paid the tax and all additional charges (+/- 450 Tl) and got it. While you have the sitting permit, you can use your driving licence till 1 year after last entrance from abroad, but sitaution changes while you have the TC at the same time. So, in order to avoid any problems, not to think about insurance companies and being dependent with your situation on their point of view, I suggest to get the Turkish driving licence.
